This Project is based on the development of forms that speak to the viewer, installing themselves as forms that question their origin and memory, appealing to a relative memory, on an object’s possibilities of being, but divested of a recognizable function, always keeping certain qualities referred to the world of objects that allow me to maintain a sense of ambiguity.
The “Warped Thing” is form that raises the issue of its recognisability by creating an uncertain space that falls between the concepts of “thing” and “object”.
This project also responds to an investigative process focusing on certain constructive systems with socio-cultural roots, such as for example, weaving and basket-making. I use these systems, imagery and languages to construct this form, but I also generate an experience based on an “imposed materiality.” This constructive process does not follow the logics of traditional weaving or basket-making, that is the logics of the vegetable fibres used in such crafts (wicker, boqui, sedge, manila, etc.). Instead, I process that system and link it to the world of contemporary visual arts.
